Rain, rain, go away come again another day . . . Oh, go ahead and stay because Marlena is going to play anyway.

Marlena put on her snow boots that we bought for our winter trip to Colorado. I'm glad we can get more uses out of them as rain boots. They worked pretty good until Marlena started jumping in the water.

Sophie our attention starved cat decided to climb on my back as I took pictures. She still has all her claws so getting her off my back is something I just have to wait out.

As I was waiting Marlena decided to take her shoes off and stomp in the water.

Shortly after that it was bath time!

Rainy Monday

What to do on a rainy Monday, make a mess. We made some wonderful rainy day brownies and painted our nails. I did make a trip to Hobby Lobby to get craft for Marlena. It was a plastic butterfly window decoration that you can decorate with glitter.

The glitter nail polish was a much bigger hit and it took up more time. We both have very glittery toes thanks to my little manicurist.

Gardner's Gathering

We had a fun family outing to the Arboretum. They were having their Gardner's Gathering plant sale. Marlena got to create a fun hat as well as a propagate a plant and make a pollinator for her flowers. Scott and I picked up some apple mint to add to our mint collection. We plan on making a raised bed and really get it growing. Mint tea sounds good for the summer!

Project of the Day

Scott and I got some kind of stomach bug. Poor Lena had to put up with the both of us. We didn't get to do much. We did get to go outside for a little while and then later that evening we recycled her crayons.

Set Oven to 275 degrees. Take off all the paper and break into small pieces. We used a mini muffin tin and we sparyed it with cooking spray before we put the crayons in.

Put in oven for 7-8 minutes. If you want you can use a toothpick to swirl the crayons but we decided to leave them as is.

Let them cool completely. They should pop right out if you didn't forget the cooking spray.

It was a fun little actvity for us to do. We get to test them out tomorrow.

Bento Search

I decided to order some bento box supplies on Amazon.com. I figure the shipping and handling will be less then all the driving around I would have to do to find what I want. I also went out and bought more Easter egg dye since it is on sale. Not only is it a fun craft but it helps Marlena eat hard boild eggs, two for one!!

Cascarones!

Nothing like a Cascarone on the head early Sunday morning.
It took several attempts to crack it on daddy's head.
I just have to make sure she does not do this with the eggs in the fridge!

Making breakfast. Lena loves vegetarian bacon.

Egg Hunt

Marlena meeting the Easter Bunny. We went to a Farm where they had a big Easter Egg Hunt. They also had pony rides, a petting zoo and all sorts of fun things for kids to play and explore.
Getting eggs
Marlena hard at work on the farm tractor.

Easter Weekend

Back for Houston with out a Bento Box. I was sure I could find it there somewhere. We did find 2 Japanese markets but they did not have any. Scott and I enjoyed looking through all the Asian markets while we were Bento Box hunting. It was a great weekend!

Lena making pine cone bird feeders. Peanut butter, bird seed and pine cone.

Coating the pine cone with bird seed.

Finished pine cone.
Hanging it up for the birds. The squirrels really like it!

Making Easter eggs. Lena ate her first hard boiled egg. We had tried it before but this was much more appeling.

Worms and Garden

We bought a worm compost bin for the kitchen this weekend at the World Hunger Relief Farm Day. Lena has really taken to feeding them kitchen scraps. Hopefully we can get it going enough to put it in a bigger bin eventually. We plan on using the compost for our garden. We have one kind of started but it was pretty unintentional. As you can see in the picture there are pumpkin vines, and decomposing oranges. While Lena and I were digging a hole to plant our gourd seeds (intending to make bird houses once they grow) I also noticed that a peach pit has sprouted some growth. I was trying to do some composting outside with the kitchen scraps but it is a little unsightly. I will eventually need to find somewhere to move it.

Bento Box

My current obsession right now is getting a Japanese Bento Box. I saw them on another moms website and googled how to get one. There are all kinds of links on how to make cute lunches. I thought it would be a great way to prepare food for a toddler. I hope to get one this weekend!

Park

So, we went to the park today. Lena loves the park but sometimes I want to do something besides watch Lena run around while I am there. I remembered that my camera was in the car, it is a Canon Powershot SD1100 IS. I decided to take the time to check out some of the features that I had not used before. That is went I found the Color Accent feature. Wow, I have had this camera for several years and never knew this feature was here. So I am getting the manual out tonight to see what else I can discover.

Don't have a Canon? Then let me highly suggest https://www.photoshop.com/. Free Photo Sharing site that lets you do me cool editing. Check it out!

New Blog

I decided to give this blogging another go. The last blog I did was when I was pregnant with my daughter. This one is going to be about motherhood and local events around Waco. I have such a hard time trying to figure out what there is to do here. I check the local news paper, local magazines, websites, community boards and I still miss things. So I thought I would try it this way. I am going to be using Google Calender until I learn how to organize things better. I will be miss spelling (or is it misspelling) a lot but I promise to make sense most of the time (use your context clues). If you have any events you would like to add to the calender let me know. So, here it goes . . .
